Online, I go by the alias “Aesthemic”. I’ve been on the Internet for nearly 3 decades (starting around 2000) and have been around quite a few different communities over the years. Previously, I have gone by “Karusune”, “DragonSoldier” and “XeroDesign001”.
I am a technology enthusiast and work as a Systems Analyst with a focus on the extraction of data from legacy systems. I do also spend time working on my home infrastructure and learning to create things. Notably, I am learning skills related to drawing and game design.
Interests
Rhythm Games
My first rhythm game that wasn’t a mini-game was DDRMAX on the PlayStation 2. It was a game that made me want more, which led me to In The Groove, Pump It Up, and Beatmania IIDX. Since then, I have played a variety of games including Sound Voltex, Arcaea, and Rock Band / Guitar Hero.
What drives me to rhythm games is both the sensation of tapping or playing to the music and a constant goal of self improvement. I love to push my boundaries to see what I can do.
My favorite rhythm gaming artists include Naoyuki Sato, Naoki Maeda, and Camellia. I am also quite fond of artists like Snail’s House, Toriena, and LeaF who all bring something different to the table. If I had to pick a single rhythm gaming song to listen to on repeat, it would likely be Reflection Into The Eden.
Technology
I spend a decent amount of time working with technology both in my personal life and in my professional life. I am a Systems Analyst 3 which places me as the technical lead on my team. As a result, I get to work on or assist with a variety of interesting projects that require working with legacy systems that are no longer being sold or supported.
Plenty of my time goes into learning how to work with things like Proxmox, OPNSense, and even messing about with Linux in general. While I have a tendency to go back to Windows for certain things, I do spend a good amount of time with CachyOS as my distro of choice for my main desktop.
Projects
RPG Game
I’ve been learning new skills this year to start building my own role-playing game. I have a concept for it that I am not ready to reveal, but will provide some information about the game possibly by the end of 2026. I’m pretty new in terms of designing and creating games, but am working on learning how to create the assets alongside writing and world-building.
